VVM for recent graduates

VVM is thé network of environmental professionals in the Netherlands. Sustainable thinkers and doers meet each other in our association. Over a 1000 members easily get in touch in one of the 15 sections with themes such as biodiversity, health & environment and climate & energy. Students and starters can (also) join section Young. And, within the network you can look for a mentor; handy when you're looking for your future job or have questions about the next step in your career. 

In our network Dutch is the principal language, which certainly does not imply that as a non-Dutch speaker you cannot profit from a membership.

Free membership

As a gift for your graduation VVM offers you as a graduate a year long free membership. Regular members pay 150 euros. After your free membership ends you can become a member for the favorable fee of 95 euros. This fee is valid for all members under 36.

What VVM has to offer non-Dutch speaking graduates:

• an inspiring sustainable network of over a 1000 members active in the field of environment and/ or sustainability ranging from trainees at municipalities to senior policy advisors, university professors, technical  specialists and independent consultants .
• extensive searchable database to get in touch with environmental experts in your field of interest
• mentorsystem: find an experienced VVM-member to discuss your study, internship or career options.
• 15 substantive working groups around themes such as food and agriculture, ethics and environmental filosophy and climate and energy. Meet like-minded people, organise an event and/or stay up-to-date of the latest developments in the field.
• working group Jong organises specific events for students and young professionals.
• free entry to several events and discount to all others. All activities that are held in English are also announced in English. Every three years we host the NCGG International Symposium on Non-CO2 Greenhouse Gases
• free access to the digital version of magazine Milieu and Landschap (Dutch only). 
• favourable membership fee: 95 euros a year for everyone under 36 instead of 150 euros for a regular membership.

As a member, you can put your questions to a VVM mentor. Mentors are enthusiastic members of VVM. These experienced environmental professionals are happy to think along with you about your future career.

For example, a conversation with a mentor can be useful if you are in doubt about which sector you want to work in. A mentor can also help you if you wonder how to build up a good network.

Based on your request, VVM will try to make the best possible match between you and the mentor. How you get in touch is up to you. Calling, zooming or having a coffee. Maybe you only have one single meeting, but that doesn't have to be the case. Company visits have also been part of previous matches between mentor and mentee.
